#43: This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald
As much as I wanted to love it, This Side of Paradise just didn’t do it for me. I tried really hard to connect to the feelings of Amory Blaine as he journeyed through self-discovery, but found his thoughts and actions to be somewhat pretentious. Maybe it’s the fact that even though I am young as well, my own journey is much different. However, Fitzgerald’s writing sets the scene of the early 20th century in the most classic sense with big romance, big dreams, and big philosophy. It’s a glimpse into a world of the past that somehow works its way into our contemporary setting.
I need to finish reading this book.
